4 Tips to Making it Through the Last Few Weeks of School

Well guys, we are now in the home stretch! Hip hip hooray(this sounds cool in my head). If you are anything like me these last few weeks may be the hardest. I am currently dealing with a couple on the bubble grades which causes excess stress. How I am going to bring these grades up and stay alive?!?! I’m going to try to tell you all some tips I have on how to make it through these last few weeks.

1. CRY IT OUT:

  • I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry about every single day last week. I had tons of work and stress piling up on me. I decided to visit one of my professors during her office hours. I felt pretty confident about my paper but as I sat there I had to listen to name off every single thing that was wrong with the paper. That’s why I went to see her, to get constructive criticism but woah… it hit my hard. As she named off the imperfections I began to tear up. She looked over and said “Does that all make sense?” and the floodgates opened. I cried when I went to see one of my advisers as well(that’s another story). My point with this is to just let out your emotions as they come(sometimes LOL). I’m a crier in general. Like I am a big crier. But hey, sometimes crying can really help ya out. So if you’re stressing out about your semester I FEEL YA!!! We can cry together, okay?

crying runninglol This is me leaving my meeting^^^

2. MAKE A CHECKLIST

  • I for sure get this from my Momma… BUT, checklists are so helpful. I am pretty extra with mine and I do make more than a normal student probably should. On Sunday’s I will create a checklist for the whole week. I will add things as the week goes on but this just helps me get a feel of how many things I am going to have and helps me manage my time. With that, you for sure are going to want to include the date and time each thing has to be done by. Tip: put a time earlier than it is actually due so even if you forget about it you will have a little more time. Or you will get it done in advance which is always nice. As the week goes on I will create a new to do list for each day. I either make the night before or morning of. I’m not sure if anyone else will get satisfaction but when I check something off my list I feel pretty darn satisfied… Well for a minute, then I look and see that I have 264082 things to do.got it dudeMichelle is right!!! You got it dude!

3. SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK…maybe

  • It seems like professors love pouring all of our final projects on us at the same exact time! Wow, you gotta love that! While some people may get lucky and have professors that are flexible with due dates many will not. Professors usually set a due date for reason. Today, the day I am typing this I had 5 assignments due. 4 being my final project in those particular classes. Let me tell you, that is stressful! Like me, us students are awesome at procrastinating. Who cares you have 5 assignments? Netflix is calling your name!!! You will hear of people staying up until 4 am doing their work, and trust me I have been there. From my experience, this always makes me feel worse. I will get to the point in that night where my eyes are glazed over and I have no idea what I am reading anymore. When you feel yourself getting to this point GO TO SLEEP! 2 am is normally my cap. I will then go to sleep and set an alarm so I can recharge in the morning. Your body needs rest. You are not going to help yourself or your grades by staying up all night.

What the library looks like past 2 am. ^^

4. REWARD YOURSELF

  • You’ve made it this far and that is something to be proud of! So go ahead, treat yourself. School can be hard. School can cause you to breakdown. School can drain you mentally and physically. You deserve a treat… whatever that is for you. For me, you already know I am taking a bath. This helps me relieve stress and unwind for a little while. Also, if you live here in KY it will help you warm up since it’s April and still snowing(WTF?!?!). So go get yourself some ice cream, go see a movie, go do whatever it is you wanna do(Keep it legal plz). You deserve it!!
